So Much Happening!

Alrighty Fellas Fans, we’ve got some catching up to do. There hasn’t been an update in a while, so there is history to be learned!

-To start off the year, the fellas went up to Traverse City the first week of January with our lovely lady friends in Tangled Up In Blue!  The trip was a blast and a huge success!  Once we were back in full swing for school, we were in ICCA mode for the next month and a half!
-Fast forward to February 18th, the Accafellas competed once again on the International Championship of Collegiate A-Cappella (ICCA) stage.  After endless hours of work and dedication, it payed off with an award for Best Soloist: (Joe Caigoy); an award for Best Arrangement: (Jake Przybyla, Duncan Cooper, Richard Hofmeister); and 3rd place overall!  Congrats to our friends in the Dicks and Janes from UofM for placing first!
-After that, the next couple months were filled with what seemed like gig after gig! We aren’t complaining– we love to sing!– but we need some time for school too!

And now HERE WE ARE!  The abbreviated version of the Accafellas’ journey in 2012 is over!  We are now getting ready for ANOTHER trip up to Traverse City this weekend where we will be singing with our friends in another group here at state, Capital Green; as well as with a few of the high school groups!  If you want more info you can follow us on twitter and facebook and we’ll keep you up to date as we travel around the TC area!  And finally…OUR SPRING CONCERT!  It’s only 2 weeks away so get excited!  There will be more info about all of that in it’s own post however, so I won’t say much here, just that it is Friday, April 27th at 7:30 in the East Lansing High School Auditorium.

Stay tuned for the concert info!

ICCA’s 2011

2/12/2011 UPDATE: Congratulations and thumbs up to all the competitors last night!  It was awesome to be there!

You can check out some videos of our performance by clicking Video in the Media page, or by clicking here!

The Accafellas will be competing TONIGHT, February 11th, in the 14th season of The International Championship of Collegiate A Capella [ICCA's]!!!!

Tomorrow will be the Midwest Quarterfinal #2 held at the University of Michigan in Rackham Auditorium.  The show starts at 8:00, and doors open at 7:30!  So come out and help support us as we sing our hearts out on that stage!  There will be a TON of fantastic A Capella sounds tomorrow night, so you are sure to enjoy yourself!  Tickets will be available at the door, but you better get there quick, there are plenty of A Capella groups hailing from UofM that will surely have seats to fill with their own fans.

The ICCA’s are put on by Varsity Vocals and is a nationwide competition of collegiate a capella groups.  When groups apply, they send in a raw recording of 3 songs and it is decided if they made the first cut.  (we did, of course)  Then each group to move on is placed in a quarterfinal in one of 6 regions. (We’re in the Midwest)  On the day of the competition, each group is alloted no more than 12 minutes to showcase the best they have to offer.  This is a capella that will send chills down your spine and cover your body with goosebumps.  Each performance is filled with soft and loud, high and low, and amazing moments that are sure to wow you!  At the end of the night, there is a winner, a runner-up, and a second runner-up, along with awards like best arrangement, best soloist, and best choreography.  The top two groups move on to the Regional Semifinal where they square off against the top two from all the quarterfinals in the region.  Then you can guess where it goes from there, the regional winners square off at the National Competition held in New York City!

You can visit the Varsity Vocals website for all this and more information on the competition!

Hoping to see a lot of green in the audience tomorrow night,

The Fellas
